Who hasn’t had a Watch that lost its band? Run and have another band put on? Maybe. Or, make a beautiful decor piece for your home from the old broken watch. There are many different ways to do so, depending upon the type of watch it is. Pocket watches are ideal but you can use most any watch. If the watch has a large face it’s much easier to craft with than if the watch is tiny. But, there are several different crafts you can make using either one.
Mount the watch onto the center of a CD and glue onto a piece of wood for a coffee table conversation piece. If the watch is too small for the center of the CD glue a piece of fabric onto the CD before attaching the watch. Wooden pieces are available at craft stores in all shapes and sizes, yet are very inexpensive. Purchase one that has a groove in the center, or carve the groove yourself. Use contact cement to hold the CD in the slit. Cover the back of the CD with fabric, cork or another craft item. Set on coffee table or shelf.
Glue the watch face to any number of ceramic pieces. You’ll find ceramics in shapes like dogs, tepees, eagles, water fountains, and more at a craft store. Make your ceramic piece much more interesting by attaching the watch to the front of the piece.
Glue the watch face to the center of a mirror and hang. Mirrors make everything look larger and will make the watch look more like a clock. Circular shaped mirrors are really great for this project. You can also buy the mirrors in diamond shapes or ovals.
A broken watch can be the perfect clock for a dollhouse. Mount it to the dollhouse wall, or attach it to a mirror or wooden piece before hanging. Even the tiniest watch face works well for a dollhouse.
Set the watch into a dog collar. Now you can see how long you’ve been walking the dog and tell when it’s time to go home. Simply glue the watch in place and put the collar on the dog.
Use a plate holder to display the watch “clock” on a bureau or night stand. Attach the watch face to a piece of wood, a plate, or another flat object and set it in the plate holder. This is a cute craft that makes a nice gift, too.
